Billions of dollars are lost each year by what these thieves consider a "victimless" crime. The theft is occurring in automobile repair centres, medical clinics, law offices and even the next-door neighbour's house. The crime is insurance fraud.

Insurance fraud perpetrators are auto mechanics who inflate costs or do extra repairs, medical practitioners who bill for services not rendered, or individuals who conspire to stage auto accidents or fake injury.

Insurance fraud results in higher insurance rates, higher taxes and inflated prices for consumer goods and services. Insurance crime affects everyone. When a car is stolen, a home burglarized, property vandalized or a false or exaggerated claim made, everyone has to pay more than they should for insurance.
