Email Security Notice!

Protect Yourself Against The Latest Internet Scam

Important Information For All Members

It is in everyone's interest to curtail fraudulent Internet activity. We ask that you please take time to read this information article and become aware of the latest email scam.

What to watch out for right now:

Numerous financial institutions have recently reported instances of fraudulent emails received by customers. These emails invite customers to update their personal banking information.

Recipients are informed of a "security system" upgrade, asking them to click on a link and log into their account in order to "reactivate" it with the new "security system". If you receive this fraudulent email delete it immediately.

The Credit Union uses the latest technologies to ensure the service we bring our members is secure and confidential. Under no circumstances would The Credit Union ever ask you to reveal your PIN (Personal Identification Number) or other passwords. In addition, there are further steps you too can take to protect yourself against the latest Internet scam.

Safeguard yourself with these top tips:

  • Be cautious when clicking on a link, unknown web site, or unfamiliar email.
  • Look for the "lock" icon on the bottom bar of your browser. This indicates that you are running in secure mode.
  • Be cautious of emails that ask for personal information.
  • Notify us if you receive suspicious email or phone inquiries.
  • Never disclose your passwords and/or PIN to anyone.
  • Be suspicious of anyone who emails you seeking personal information
  • Use anti-virus software and install firewalls to prevent unauthorized users from accessing your data.
  • Keep your browsers up-to-date with current versions and security enhancements.
  • Use passwords that are difficult for others to guess.
  • Make sure that websites you use post privacy and security policies and please review and understand these statements.
  • Do not follow links to our website that are found in the body of an email message.
  • Call us to verify any messages you receive claiming changes.
